Hello from Class Willis!

Welcome to Foundation Stage 2 webpage. Your teacher is Miss Orr and your learning Support Teachers are Miss Magill and Miss Williams and we also have Miss Sullivan working in Reception with us as a one-to-one support. Meet the Teacher letter

It’s going to be fun packed year full of explorations and adventures!

Class Information

P.E. lessons are on Mondays and Tuesdays. Your child will need their full kit (white t-shirt, pumps and black shorts) in a named bag. They will need their PE kit in school for the Monday lesson, although on a Tuesday children must come to school in their PE kit with their full school uniform in their PE bag. We will send the PE kit home on Monday in preparation for Tuesday.

Homework, linked to our work in class, is set every Friday and sent home, with a reading book, in your child’s book bag. Both homework books and reading books should be returned by Wednesday every week. This will enable the work to be marked in time for the next piece to be sent out on Fridays. If your child is still reading the book still return the book so we can then check off your signatures and any comments and return or issue a new book for Friday each week.

Stay and Play will be starting 9:00am – 10:00am on Thursday 6th October, where you are welcome to come in and join in with your children’s learning and play.

There are seven areas of learning, three ‘prime’ areas which build the capacity to learn (Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development) and four ‘specific’ areas which help strengthen the prime areas.  The specific areas are applied through Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Parents Guide To Foundation Stage

Each area of learning is implemented through planned, purposeful play and through a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activity.  Play is essential for children’s development, builds their confidence as they explore, think about problems and relate to others.

Children in the Foundation Stage have continuous access to our Outdoor Learning Yard, being outside children are provided with a challenging and exciting opportunities with different experiences that help them learn.
