Year Five - Kinney
Hello, welcome to Class Kinney! Your Year Five teacher will be Mr. White with Miss. Lee, who is our Learning Support Assistant. We’ve got a busy year ahead of us during our penultimate year of primary school! Meet the Teacher letter
Our aim is to ensure the children make a smooth transition from Lower Key Stage 2 to Upper Key Stage 2, in preparation for SATS in Year Six.
This year, we will be striving towards becoming more independent learners; through accessing resources and using the working walls to support our learning.
In Year Five, we will be delivering daily English, Maths and SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) lessons to consolidate, secure and extend the children’s prior learning. We will be following the National Curriculum 2014 objectives for Year 5.

P.E – This year, P.E will be delivered on Wednesday afternoon. The children will keep their kits in school until the end of each half term. After each half term their kits can be brought home to be cleaned and brought back in for the start of the new term. We ask that all items of kit are clearly labelled with your child’s name and year group.
French – Every Tuesday morning, Madame Petitbois will deliver an hour French session.
Homework is an integral part of the children’s progress and helps consolidate our weekly learning and development in both Maths and English/SPaG.
English and Maths homework will be sent out every Friday along with reading books. English homework should be returned no later than Wednesday, and Maths homework should be returned no later than Thursday. Reading book bags must be in by Friday, to ensure the children have a new book to read for the following week.
It is vital that pupils read as often as possible both in school and at home, to ensure they become confident readers. We strongly recommend that you encourage your children to read daily.
