Year Two - Giant's Causeway
Welcome to Year 2 – Class Causeway
This year our classes are named after a British landmark – Y2 are named after the Giant’s Causeway located on the coast of Northern Ireland. We will be learning about the legend of Finn McCool and how the area was formed.
Your Year 2 teacher is Miss Johnston and Miss Lee is our class teaching assistant. We are also joined by Miss Young.
In Year 2, we are dedicated to ensuring that your child has the best possible chance of making progress across the National Curriculum, so they are ready for the jump next year to the juniors!
We have an exciting year ahead of us. The children are going to be learning and applying a range of new skills through our English, Maths and Science lessons embedded in our Inquiry-based curriculum. For more subject-specific information please see our Curriculum Page.
The children will start each day with Phonics followed by Guided Read. English and Maths lessons will follow each morning. Science, History or Geography, P.E, DT and other foundation subjects will be taught in the afternoons.
PE will be on a Tuesday (with EFiC) and on a Friday.
Homework – One piece of Maths and one piece of English homework will be sent home every Friday. This will be work to consolidate learning and lessons that have taken place that week. Homework should be completed and back in school the following Wednesday. Books will be changed on a Friday morning and book bags sent home that day. Please ensure you leave a comment in your child’s reading record.
