We recently received this email from a local dentist.
Dear all at Broadgreen Primary,
This is Dr Stuart Garton from your local dental practice ‘The Dental House’ (Derby Lane, Old Swan).
It is so important that all children see a dentist regularly and, sadly, across our city, this is not always happening. We would like to offer every single child in your school the chance to register at our practice and receive the free care that they are entitled to. I am asking for your help in spreading this message to parents and carers.
I am one of the dentists backing Liverpool City Council’s ‘Save Kids from Sugar’ campaign in a bid to highlight the shocking amounts of sugar found in many popular cereals and soft drinks that your pupils may consume.
As an ambassador for our city’s campaign, I have featured in articles and publications discussing important statistics. This includes the fact that a third of five year old children in Liverpool have decayed, missing or filled teeth and that there are children as young as 2 having teeth removed under general anaesthetic. Full articles can be found below, I am featured in the second advertorial.
STARTING YOUR CHILD’S DAY WITH A SUGARY BREAKFAST CAN ADD UP TO HEALTH PROBLEMS Like obesity and tooth decay. It can also lead to type 2 diabetes, heart disease
I wanted to raise awareness of the campaign and draw your attention the website which might be something you might like to share with pupils and staff; it includes some useful resources and video clips:http://www.savekidsfromsugar.c

The amount of children who do not see a dentist is both sad and avoidable since NHS treatments for under 18s is free. We are currently accepting new patients both NHS and private and would appreciate it if you could let your school community know about this availability.
With your permission, we will happily hand deliver some new patients packs to your school to be distributed.
New patients can also register by calling 0151 228 3643 or downloading the relevant forms from our website: http://dentalhouseliverpool.co
