Check this link out He is one of my favourite authors and he is teaching us how to draw. I had a go at the sausage dog! Good morning Year 3!
I know we usually love Wednesdays as they start with Gymnastics! I saw this and thought of you all. Gymnastics you can do in your living room. Check it out and let us know how you do.
I’m missing our music lessons. I’ve been watching Myleene Klass doing online music lessons. No need to have an instrument, just your listening ears! Have a look and join in by following the links below.

We usually have computing this afternoon, don’t forget to log on to Discovery Education, lots of computing activities to have a go at.

Take care,

Mrs A & Mr F

Good morning Year 3,

Mrs Allen and I hope you are keeping well – and helping around the house! Have a look at the daily maths meeting slides I’ve attached here. Have a go with someone in your house. Let’s keep those maths brains ticking over – you’ll need them when we all get back!

 Mr Forde/Mrs Allen

Hi Year 3,
I hope you’ve all had a good weekend.
Did anyone do a virtual tour of Chester Zoo?  What animals did you see? Did you find out any new information? How about writing a report to share with us? I had a visitor from Chester Zoo in my kitchen, see the photo attached! If you want a visitor in your home ask your grown up to google an animal on their phone and click show in 3D. Try a tiger, panda or lion. You could write a story about your adventure!
We should be doing science this afternoon, I saw this and thought it would be good to have a go. I’m going to do it, I’d love to see what you do. Making ice cream sounds fun too!
Take care Year 3, have a great week. We miss you.

Hi Year 3,

Mrs Allen and I wanted to say well done for getting through your first week! (And well done parent/carers!)We looked at life in Liverpool past, especially around the war years. The link below (attachment) has a WW2 project book. You could find out some more facts from where we left off and complete the project. Good luck and keep active!

Good Morning Year 3. What a beautiful day! A challenge for you. Using your skills from our plant topic can you regrow vegetables from scraps? Try the ends of lettuce or celery. Put them in a tray of water in the light. I’ll try too. Good luck. Mrs A & Mr F

Hi Year 3!
We miss you! We hope you’re all ok. Let us know what you have been up to! Have any of you completed Joe Wicks daily PE sessions on you tube? I did it this morning with Stan, we pretended to be super heroes, it was great fun. We’d love to hear if you’ve completed it.
We’ve also had a go at nursery’s challenge of painting rainbows for our window. Have you? We’d love to see them if you have!
I know lots of you love David Walliams. Check out his website there is a section called Elevenses. Everyday at 11 you can listen to a story. Let us know which ones you liked.
Stay safe Year 3 and stay in touch.

Year Three -Alan Turing

Welcome to Year 3, and welcome to KS2. Your class teachers are Mr. Forde and Mrs Allen and they are supported by Ms Lee and Mrs Dobson. We have adopted Alan Turing as our class name, the famous mathematician and code breaker of Bletchley Park who cracked the infamous Enigma codes in World War 2.

As our pupils make the transition from KS1 to KS2 a lot of support is put in to help them with this transition in the first few weeks. Pupils settle quickly into Year 3 and we begin our learning journey in what is an exciting and important year as we start life as juniors.

Topics include the study of the Stone Age, volcanoes, flowers and plants whilst we ask philosophical questions for our Inquiries such as, ‘What would happen if all the bees die out?’

Later on in the year, we undertake scientific investigations into the nature of light as well as making a study of ancient Egypt.

We develop our reading and writing skills further of course and we take the step forward into solving ever trickier maths problems and understanding how to use maths in our everyday lives.

An in depth study of rivers in the United Kingdom takes place which includes a fascinating study of the role of the River Mersey in Word War 2. We even visit the U- Boat museum by taking a ferry trip!

Year 3 is indeed an exciting and important phase of education and we look forward to seeing our pupils succeed in their first year as juniors.

Our P.E days are on Tuesday and Thursday. We take swimming lessons later on in Spring term.

The children will also further develop their coding skills in Computing lessons and how to stay safe with E- Safety lessons.

Homework is given out on a Tuesday (English) and a Friday (maths) and we are always just an email away if you need any help. (  and )

If you would like to talk to your child’s class teacher, please email or call in to make an appointment and we will always be available to have a chat.
